More a postcard than a poem, but very successful in any case. Nice statement on the emotional reality that is the idea of love. Loved the jelly jar wineglass and the fact of the cactus. Really very subtle stuff going on.
Each time I read this I like it even more. It's the naturalness of the voice combined with the imagistic metaphors. I know I tend to intellectualize too much. Should've heard me when I was 25. This poem keeps coming up in my consciousness. I've struggled a lot to write similar short statements on love, truth. The big things. Good to see you attempting the hard stuff, but avoiding pretension.
